Production Lab History And Mission

This page is under construction. The content will be updated by the end of summer 2024.

Mission statement: To train students on industry standard engineering and manufacturing equipment to prepare them for post-secondary education and/or competitive, high wage jobs.

History: The initial idea for a THS Production Lab was developed in 2021 after the school received some funding from Oregon Measure 98. Mr. Woodward saw an opportunity to provide industry standard manufacturing equipment to his students. There were some significant hurdles preventing the project from succeeding. Unfortunately the Measure 98 spending deadline approached before some of the critical issues could be solved. Research was still continued in the hope that more funding would be available in the future. Solutions were found for the critical issues blocking the project. In 2024, Mr. Woodward and Mr. Lieuallen applied for the Oregon Department of Education's "CTE Revitalization Grant" which could award the program $250,000 if deemed worthy. After much deliberation, ODE awarded 31 grants to 74 schools across Oregon. Tigard High School was awarded the full $250,000 to create the Production Lab.
